Nikah-dokument i Jordan
In Jordan, Muslim marriages are registered by the Sharia courts under the Personal Status Law. A premarital medical test, including thalassaemia screening, is required before the contract.
Who registers the marriage
The Sharia court, through an authorised ma'dhun, records and registers the marriage contract.
Typical steps
- 1
Complete the premarital medical tests at an approved health centre.

Agree the advance and deferred mahr and any conditions to write in the contract.
- 3
Book the ma'dhun or court and gather the required IDs and certificates.
- 4
Conclude the contract with the wali and two witnesses and receive the court-registered contract.

Viktiga anteckningar
The general minimum age is 18, and exceptions need a court decision under strict conditions. Marriages concluded abroad should be registered with a Jordanian embassy or court to protect family rights.
